I think the last time we had anything to say about Brooklyn-born Nevada crackpot Michele Fiore was 5 years ago when we saw how the most politically conservative union, LIUNA (the Laborers Union) was giving their members' money to her as campaign contribution. My favorite LIUNA contribution of 2016 wasn't the money O'Sullivan gave Paul Ryan or any of his anti-union thuggish colleagues but the contribution to Nevada Assemblywoman and tea party congressional candidate Michele Fiore, best known for rhetoric so violent that she makes Trump seem like a hippie in comparison. Everyone was laughing at her gun nut calendar and Christmas cards and for a bill to allow concealed firearms on school campuses (and day care facilities), but she was also telling her constituents that cancer is a fungus and can be flushed out with salt water. She owes the IRA over a million dollars in back taxes, took in over $6 million in her very fishy home health care service (whose license was eventually revoked) and has called for shooting Syrian refugees in the head: "I am not OK with Syrian refugees. I’m not OK with terrorists. I’m OK with putting them down, blacking them out. Just put a piece of brass in their ocular cavity and end their miserable life. I’m good with that."
This loud-mouthed racist sack of shit announced for the very crowded Nevada GOP gubernatorial primary today. It already included former Senator Dean Heller, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, ex-pro boxer and Trump fanatic Joey Gilbert and various other nuts. Now if every county in Las Vegas was like Eureka, Lincoln or Esmeralda, Fiore could get something going-- except that the 3 counties combined only had 3,950 votes in 2020. But those voters knew exactly what they wanted-- and, apparently, still do:
Eureka Co.- 88.0% Trump (23% fully vaccinated)
Lincoln Co.- 84.5% Trump (34% fully vaccinated)
Esmeralda Co.- 82.1% Trump (37% fully vaccinated)
In 2016, she gave up her Assembly seat and ran in the Republican primary for an open congressional seat. She came in a distant third with 18%. She then narrowly won a City Council seat and last year was re-elected as a Republican National Committeewoman, where she is free to rant and rave about how wonderful Trump is to her heart's content.
Today the Las Vegas Review-Journal announced her bid for the gubernatorial nomination and reported that she is "casting herself as a champion for conservative values amid a cascade of controversies that figure to be election cycle targets, while noting that she "is under FBI investigation related to her campaign finances; fellow Councilwoman Victoria Seaman accused her of breaking Seaman’s finger in an assault inside City Hall; and Fiore survived a failed recall effort last year fueled in part by racially charged remarks she reportedly made regarding affirmative action."
Fiore vowed to be an antithetical candidate to those who would seek to compromise with Democrats, making it clear that she has no intention of working with President Joe Biden’s administration if elected to Nevada’s highest office.
“That isn’t me. You’ll never hear me do that,” she said. “And if you want that, vote for one of my primary opponents.”
...Fiore, a Second Amendment supporter, laid out goals for her first day in office as governor: Ban critical race theory from being taught in schools; ban government-mandated vaccinations; and audit the 2020 presidential election.
“I fight for our students who get a mask taped on their face. I fight for our teachers who are being strangled by their union,” she said. “And I fight for our small businesses, who so many went bankrupt in this shutdown and are still struggling today.”
In an email to supporters, Fiore again sought to connect her Nevada campaign with national politics.
“The failed Biden Presidency continues to drag America down, and Biden-backed socialist Steve Sisolak continues to follow his disgraceful leadership,” she said in the email. “It’s time we bring Real Conservative Leadership back to Nevada.”
The other day, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) announced on TV that he thinks elected leaders should be tested to psychiatrists to see if they are too senile yo hold office. Trump took offense and started bellowing about Cassidy. But I wonder what a psychiatrist would have to say about Fiore's obvious mental illness, even though it is unlikely attributable to senility. Still crazy is crazy and, man, is she ever that!
