The edition of "Tom The Dancing Bug" above poses that exact question. What a world where the problems of its top of the food chain species can be so clearly and easily shown in just a few frames of a daily cartoon. TTDB Creator Rueben Bolling knows all too well that one of the best things about The Simpsons is how well it depicts the absurdities of our society. That in itself is why The Simpsons is a cultural phenomena that has lasted over 40 years. It is us. And, that's not necessarily something to be proud of.
