A Flustered Trump Has Friends Like The Taliban And Dictator Viktor Orban
by Noah
I was tempted to write this post a half hour after the debate when the news broke that the world's most famous and influential "Childless Cat Lady" had watched the debate and made her decision that she could not remain silent, she will vote for and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, but, I decided to let the dust settle a bit, listen to some other reactions and give it all some more thought in the morning. So, here I am.
The way I see it is this: Going into the debate, the election appeared tied and, as we all know, it will be decided by the 6 or so battleground states and the cancerous anachronism known as the Electoral College. As for the debate itself, my after debate impression is that Traitor Trump didn't gain any voters and likely didn't lose many. Bigots and traitors gonna be bigots and traitors. On the other hand, Vice President Harris likely will gain at least some voters from the large pool of people who, since the debate, have been saying they are intrigued by her and want to find out more. Therein lies the job of the Harris campaign. That leaves us with this: It will probably still be a close election. Did the debate convince just enough people to tip the scales in the swing states and elect Kamala Harris as our president? It might have but no one should count on it. Those who were convinced to vote for Harris last night or will come to the decision to vote for her in the coming weeks will have to join her current supporters and work for the goal and get themselves and others out to vote for her. With a lot of work and a little luck, enough states could tip in Kamala's favor and create an electoral college landslide. With less work and less luck, the result is still totally up in the air.
So, where does the endorsement of Taylor Swift come in? Will it be enough to make a difference, ala Oprah in 2008? Taylor has had a sizable influence before. She is a true social and pop culture phenomenon. She has an astounding 283,000,000 followers on her social media accounts. No one else can touch her on that. That's a "crowd size" that has to be freaking out The Diaper Don. In fact, it obviously freaked him out so much that, when Swift's endorsement came in after the debate, he quickly put on a fresh suit and a fresh maximum layer of his beloved Old Spice and rushed into the Republican Party's post debate spin room. Candidates don't always do that but he was panicked and he was obviously "thinking" that no one can do spin like he can. That may be true, but, good spin? That's a whole other thing. There he was though, like a July breeze from the New Jersey Meadowlands, joining the freakishish likes of family members, RFK, Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, Matt Gaetz, Lindsey Graham, and other assorted crap-throwing tree swingers. I didn't see J.D. Vance but maybe he was either told not to come or was at home watching from his couch. Interestingly, $enator Graham tried but couldn't hold back and suddenly threw a fit, blurting out that his master's debate performance was a disaster and that the party debate team should all be fired immediately. As I watched it, the whole republican spin room looked like John Waters had put out a call for his next movie.
Anyway, with that as background, here is Taylor Swift's statement in full. It was brilliantly written and perfectly timed.
Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country. Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades. I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.
With love and hope,
Taylor Swift… Childless Cat Lady.
Ms. Swift says she will now be working to provide links where her followers can find information pertinent to the election, including how and where to register to vote or help if so inclined. Through all this excitement about Swift's endorsement which, yes, is a very powerful and meaningful thing with the ways things now work in today's marketing world, please keep in mind that not all of Swift's fans are of voting age, but, it is important to know that the youngest ones can still help out in several ways, including at local Democratic Party offices. And, you can bet Swift's non-voting aged fans have family members that they can educate or lead to enlightenment, including their young mothers and girl dads.
By the way, be sure to check out the song clip at the end of this post. I hear Taylor's music wherever I go and this one especially sticks out. It has some irony and it seems to match the situation.
Addendum 1: I quickly tuned in to FOX after the debate. They clearly stated to their audience that their Dear Leader had lost the debate. The tone was as if they had watched dear grandpappy suddenly and unexpectedly die right in their living room on Christmas morning. However, by 8:00am, Trump was in the studio and grief had turned into total denial complete with the all too predictable litany of "She was lying" diatribes and they were twisting themselves into tear-salted human pretzels trying to convince their audience of nazi wannabees which now feels a whole lot better. I knew this would come to pass as soon as I saw some social media "Trump Won-She Was Lying" posts in the wee hours. Ah, republicans!
Addendum 2: Kudos to ABC Television for introducing fact checking to our political debates. They were under a lot of outside pressure to do so and made the morally correct choice. Sometimes, pressure actually works. Despite immediate bitching from nazi monkey lady Megyn Kelly and others that they were fact checking Dear Leader, the fact checking by the ABC moderators made for a better debate. Will the Goebells influenced FOX or FOX-Lite CNN follow suit in the future? I wouldn't hold my breath. They are what they are.
I’ll bet TFG was shocked, SHOCKED, that Kamala blatantly called him out as a disgrace and that world leaders laughed at him. He never hears anything negative from his sycophants. She was amazingly brutal. Good for her!
