Your Saturday Cartoon:
It would be easy to say that a Congress full of certifiable lunatics and idiots like Paul Gosar, Anna Luna, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Marjorie Traitor Greene, and Colorado zoo escapee Lauren Boebert... Don't worry, I'm not going to name all of them here... Anyway, I was about to say that it would be easy to say that all the decades of Americans collectively accepting mediocrity in their politicians had to inevitably lead to what we have in Congress now, but it wasn't strictly inevitable. For me to say that would be too kind. Instead, I will just point out that what we have right now is the result of millions and millions of conscious decisions to vote for the strange collection of freaks that America is plagued with now. Just call it another epidemic, maybe one whose only real cure is to inject Lysol, pronto.
By the way, as I write this on Thursday afternoon, The President Of The United States has just come out and said:
"I have great faith in the instincts of the American people."
We didn't get from the "New Deal" and "Great Society" to today where bribery is legal, treason is "executive privilege" and hate is lawful because voters are smart.
shitholes don't happen in a vacuum. democracies that devolve into shitholes do so because voters make it happen. or refuse to stop it from happening.
CRA passed in 1964. Ever since 1968, the nazis, with the tacit approval of the democraps, it has been repudiated one line at a time. Either nobody enforces it or, today, nazi courts "decide" that it isn't law any more.
and nobody does "merrick garland" about it.
thus... shithole.
