Midnight Meme Of The Day! Drones Over NJ!!!

Your Saturday Cartoon— Will Santa Be Shot Down? Stay Tuned!

by Noah

Help! My home state is being attacked! By whom? Nobody knows! Well actually nobody's attacking at all, at least not with drones. It's just that, for some reason, way too many idiots who never looked up, down, or anywhere around them, all of a sudden started looking up in the sky at night and saw things with lights! It became the thing to do! So many things with lights!! Yeah, whatever. Get a life and all that.

Never mind that the skies above New Jersey and neighboring states may be the most crowded with low-flying aircraft in the world. I grew up in a New Jersey town right in the path of the runways of Newark Airport. At times, it seemed like the planes barely cleared the trees. If I looked just a little to the north, I could watch planes arcing out of the super crowded LaGuardia and a little higher up in the sky, Idlewild (now JFK International). If I turned around, there was Teterboro Airport. Nearby, there was Caldwell Airport and others all the way to the state capital of Trenton, a couple of military bases, too; all still there. Yeah, as a kid, I was a plane watcher, if only because they all looked different, just like cars did. The giant Constellations were my favorites. Now, as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to see.

The skies are much, much more crowded now. So many more planes. So many more people flying. Oh yeah, and now we have drones, drones that anybody can buy. Some are pretty good size. I see them above the intersection outside at rush hour, copters all over the place, too, but the thing is, until a couple of weeks ago, no one gave a damn. All of a sudden, looking up at lights in the night sky became a thing. It was viral without the internet and then the internet got involved and it became insane; rife with conspiracies. People began seeing "drones" and sending up their own drones into the most crowded airspace in the world. Some people have started shooting at any light in the sky! Other morons are shining lasers at them. Orson Wells would be amazed. Last night, 12 pilots from commercial jet airliners making their approaches to area airports reported laser beams in their eyes in the cockpits. You know what could go wrong. It's bad enough that some of the passengers are total crazies. Do the crazies on the ground have to cause a disaster before this lets up? The only drones that should be shot down  are those that are over restricted airspace, ie. military and intelligence locations, and dealing with those is not our department.

I love that Crazy Dave clip at the end of your post, Noah. Rocky Mountain Mike is hilarious.
