First, let's get into the actual vote that confirmed Pete Hegseth, a creature who apparently gives every indication of sociopathy and far worse: Would you put such a person in charge of a military, a military of any size let alone the biggest and most powerful and potentially most destructive one in the world? The first thing the near unanimous vote from Senate Republicans proves is how insane and utterly psychopathic they are. You have to be that if you're going along with a president that more than just meets the very definition of psychopathy. Okay? So right there we have the nominee, the president who nominated him, and the senators who joyfully confirmed him. That amounts to a perfect storm of perfect hell.
Look, we all know that the new Secretary of Defense and the president hate women. Their history is on the record more than enough to show us that and where there's smoke and flames there might as well be a blowtorch. The Senate? C'mon, I'll just say it like I've been saying it since I was in high school; both houses of Congress are little other than one big drunken, super misogynistic frat house, and, yes, that goes for both parties and any other parties that come along from time to time. The republicans, though, with their psycho president as Dear Leader, will always strive to show they are as one with his behavior. Friday's vote to confirm Hegseth shows us that in spades.
Now, what about the three republican senators who voted against confirming Hegseth. They are Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Moscow Mitch of Kentucky. The media hacks refer to Murkowski as "a moderate Republican" but we should all keep in mind that all that means is that she is moderate only within the bounds of what it means to be a republican. She was one of only seven senators in her party who voted to convict Traitor Trump when he sent his murder mob into the Capitol Building. With her vote against Hegseth, it would appear that, unlike her republican colleagues, she draws a line at murder and sexual abuse. Susan Collins? She also voted to convict Traitor Trump when he sent his killers to attempt the overthrow of the government. We also know she voted to put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court so draw your own conclusions about her priorities. If you can't, her statement on why she was voting against Hegseth sheds a lot of light. She went on and on about Hegseth's failures at managing small enterprises and his complete lack of experience in managing anything large at all let alone the world's largest military. Then, way down the list, she brought up her "concerns" about the thick cloud of sexual abuse allegations that the latest darling of the GOP and now Secretary Of Defense travels around in. I was surprised she didn't switch her vote at the last second.
Now what about Moscow Mitch? The way I see it is that his vote against Hegseth was nothing more than a bit of cynical legacy burnishing. He's a dying man who knows his legacy is that he was Traitor Trump's chief enabler and politcal bagman. Sure, he spoke out against Putin's president right after the events of J6 but that was cynical then and his vote on Friday night was a sick joke from a sick joke of a man. Every time it came down to it, Moscow Mitch protected his man. He always endorsed his man and he endorsed Trump for president in our most recent election. He knew exactly what he was telling Americans to vote for and he knew exactly the kind of people Traitor Trump would be nominating for the cabinet. McConnell spends a lot of time on cover your ass verbal bullshit and imagery but that verbal bullshit and imagery has no real substance. You can also bet that he knew exactly how the vote would go since he made his career on counting votes on items before the Senate. He knew the real goal was safe, he cast his meaningless vote, put on his coat and smirked all the way home. Was there a late night call to some Russian from his limo? Wouldn't shock me at all. Hell, Trump was probably on the call, too. Laughter all around.
So ok, now to the meme itself. Really, a picture is worth a thousand words. I know lots of people that do certain things to excess. Some are good people. Some are horrifically bad people. We now have a Secretary of Defense that has apparently shown a ton of people what kind of person he is and some of them have decided that he is just fine and peachy to be put in a job that can determine the future of the country, the world, and the lives of over 8 billion people. They did this to all of us even after all the reports of him passing out drunk all over the place. He was nominated by an obviously psychopathic president who just turned a bunch of homicidal maniacs loose on the streets and who sees nothing wrong with using nukes. Or, maybe the only thing we have to worry about is what Hegseth says when his boss wants to turn the military loose on the streets against the people.
No one has more of a "lack of self-awareness" than the commenter below. He proves it multiple times a day but his lack will always prevent him from seeing it. He has constructed a mental super fortress of self-defense mechanisms to live in.
