McCarthy & His Old Pals From The Freedumb Caucus Are Mad At Pelosi

McCarthy and his children

The noisy neo-Nazi House Freedom Caucus has had some experience opposing Speakers and today they demanded that McCarthy-- once one of their victims-- oust Pelosi as speaker. They played a big role in the ouster of John Boehner (R-OH) as speaker in 2015 and then successfully blocked Kevin McCarthy, the GOP Majority Leader, from becoming speaker, forcing him to withdraw from contention, which threw the speakership to Paul Ryan. Asked to explain what the Freedom Caucus was all about, Boehner told a reporter that "They can't tell you what they're for. They can tell you everything they're against. They're anarchists. They want total chaos. Tear it all down and start over. That's where their mindset is." Their first chair was Gym Jordan (R-OH), who was followed by Mark Meadows (R-NC) and then by the current chair, insurrectionist Andy Biggs (R-AZ). All the worst nuts in the House are members including Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Matt Gaetz (Sex Trafficker-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Marjorie Traitor Greene (Q-GA), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Lauren Boebert (Q-CO), Mike Johnson (R-LA), Ted Budd (R-NC), Lee Zeldin (R-NY), Andrew "Just Tourists" Clyde (GA), Mary Miller (Q-IL), Jim Banks (R-IN), Michael Cloud (R-TX), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Barry Moore (R-AL) and Jody Hice (R-GA). Here's the letter they sent McCarthy this morning:

The fascistic caucus is demanding McCarthy bring up a privileged motion by July 31 "to vacate the chair and end Nancy Pelosi’s authoritarian reign as Speaker of the House... Republicans, under your leadership, must show the American people that we will act to protect our ability to represent their interests." They seem upset that Pelosi rejected two of their members-- Jordan and Banks, both insurrectionists, obstructionists and Trump stooges-- after they were nominated to serve on the select committee investigating the attempted coup and insurrection.

In January, Pelosi was elected speaker over McCarthy, 216-209. At the time, 2 Republicans didn't vote, Miami Republican Maria Salazar who was out with COVID, and California McCarthy crony David Valadao whose race was still too close to call. Democrat Alcee Hastings (FL) hadn't died yet but he was non-functional and couldn't vote. Three incredibly disgusting right-wing Democrats Mikie Sherrill (Blue Dog-NJ), Elissa Slotkin (New Dem-MI) and Abigail Spanberger (Blue Dog-VA) voted "present." Another Blue Dog clown, Jared Golden, voted for Senator Tammy Duckworth, and confused conservative Democrat (who pretends to be progressive) Hakeem Jeffries voted for arch-conservaDem Conor Lamb.

No one thinks McCarthy could win this vote and it is more a challenge to his own leadership position than to Pelosi's. If the Republicans take back the House majority in 2022, McCarthy could be blocked by the Freedom Caucus again, so it will be hard for him to not do what they tell him to do. He really is their ideological captive.

"Let's face it," cautioned progressive Democrat Bruno Amato, "if Kevin McCarthy's radical right Q party wins the house, it's game over for the country as we know it. McCarthy won't become speaker, he won't even win re-election. That's on me. Besides, the Queedom Caucus would make sure the most radical person on the planet, Donald Trump, became their speaker. Yes, they can do that. Imagine that chaos. The 2022 election is literally just as important as the 2020 election. As a Navy veteran, this comes to mind, 'All hands on deck.' Its going to take all of us to stop them."

Ahhh... and we're already calling the 2022 "election" 'the most important since...'.

In an irretrievably wrecked shithole, every single election becomes its most important. why? because NO election ever fixes a single problem, and creates new ones.

well... we made a prophet out of H.L. Mencken.

"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

nazi moron... but Mencken wrote this in the '20s... before nazis were a 'thing'.
