MAGA Loon John Fleming Is Determined To Drive Fellow Republican Bill Cassidy Out Of The Senate

Excitement In Louisiana

Bill Cassidy is a gastroenterologist— and former Democrat— who served in the Louisiana state Senate from 2006 to 2009 when he was elected to Congress. He served in the house until 2015 when he started serving in the Senate, having defeated conservative Democrat Mary Landrieu. He’s probably best known for being one of the 7 Republicans who voted to convict Trump of impeachment charges after the January 6 insurrection. Judging by Trump’s 1,208,505 (60.2%) to 766,870 (38.2%) landslide over Kamala, I don’t think Cassidy’s independent approach is going to help much in 2026, when he faces voters for the first time since the impeachment.

Were he to win a third Senate term, he will serve into his 70s. He may not even want that— and he may not have a choice anyway. The state’s far right treasurer— and former congressman (2009-2017)— John Fleming officially announced yesterday that he’s running for Cassidy’s seat. Fleming, also a physician, is a Trumpist and there is little doubt that Trump will endorse him. At 73, he’s a few years older than Cassidy. He made his fortune as a Subway sandwich shop franchisee, owning 30 in Shreveport and the area.

The Times Picayune reported that “In his statement, Fleming highlighted Cassidy’s biggest vulnerability as he seeks a third term in the Senate: his vote to convict Trump of inciting a riot on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. ‘A number of Republicans walked away from President Trump in the last year of his first term,’ Fleming said. ‘But those who turned their backs on him and America First were not committed to his fight to make America great again. Louisiana citizens did not give up on this fight.’”

Cassidy’s campaign issued a snarky statement: “I thought he wanted to be State Treasurer? John Fleming wants to get out of Louisiana. He publicly said he wanted a job in the Trump administration, and apparently they didn’t want him. So after less than a year as State Treasurer, he’s looking for another job to return to Washington. Again, I thought he wanted to be State Treasurer, but apparently not.”

Fleming, a coroner at the time, ran for Jim McCrery’s House seat when McCrery was outed as a closet case. Fleming was extremely right-wing in the House— an obsessed homophobic maniac— and was one of the co-founders of the Freedom Caucus.

It should be expected that as nazis are replaced, the new nazi that replaces him/her will be worse. Often FAR worse. That's how naziism works.

The only to stop this is to elect a new party to replace the feckless corrupt pussies you keep supporting and electing FDR-types in the nazis' stead.

Democraps will never replace nazis from LA.
