Trump Doesn't Care She Shot Cricket, He Just Doesn't Like How She Worked The P.R.
Apparently, GOP former future superstar Kristi Noem never read her ghostwritten book and is now blaming all the lies in No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward on whomever actually wrote it. There’s a blurb on the jacket: “Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History.” Still… funny that a book claiming to be truthful in the title is so full of transparent lies. The big one so far was her claim to have met— and stared down— North Korean dictator Kim Jung-un. It’s likely she was mixing Kim up with the manager of China Buffet in Pierre (602 W. Sioux Ave), a short walk from her office. None of the reviews mentioned Noem but one reviewer wrote that the restaurant, which is up and running again, “burned a few months ago from a grease fire... I guess you get a lot of those in Chinese restaurants? Flies, sticky tables, food that makes you spend hours on the toilet. Yikes! avoid!” Another discerning South Dakota diner taking a walk on the wild side noted that “Sweet and sour sauce for chicken was basically red water !! Sesame chicken gets a D- . Lo mein has no flavor.”
Damn! No wonder Noem mixed up the manager with Kim! Who could blame her? Although, like with much of the book, which will be in stores Tuesday and in the bargain bins by Friday, she’s changed her story on this one and now admits she never met Kim but won’t say whether or not it was the manager of China Buffet who she stared down.
She was more concerned that a Republican fundraiser in Colorado she was scheduled to headline over the weekend suddenly cancelled her, claiming the hosts were getting threats of violence (either from Koreans or dog lovers). She’s been watching her career slowly circle the drain over the last 10 or so days as first the story of her shooting the family puppy, Cricket, was revealed and then… all the excuses and unrelated lies. Cricket went from deserving to die because Noem hated her and she would never be a good hunting dog to being vicious and too dangerous to be around her children.
No one believes anything she says. Even Trump— a dog hater— is reported to have said the Cricket story disgusted him. Supposedly she’s no longer on his short list for running mates. Asawin Suebsaeng and Andrew Perez reported that Trump keeps bringing up the story in chats with his cronies and is now sorry he wrote a blurb for the book calling it “a winner” and calling her a “tremendous leader.” He hadn’t read the book either when he OKed the blurb. Mostly, Trump is fascinated by how she brought Cricket to a gravel pit and shot her and then botched the whole public relations aspect, since he is sure that voters don’t like politicians who kill their children’s puppies.
Noem also made up some silly bullshit story about Nikki Haley which she now says will be corrected— along with the Kim Jung-un lies— in “future editions,” although now that she’s not going anywhere politically, no one thinks there will be any future editions. The NY Times reported yesterday “Noem mentions the meeting with Kim when writing about her eight years in Congress as South Dakota’s sole representative, in a passage about her role as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. ‘I had the chance to travel to many countries to meet with world leaders— some who wanted our help, and some who didn’t,’ Noem writes. ‘I remember when I met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. I’m sure he underestimated me, having no clue about my experience staring down little tyrants (I’d been a children’s pastor, after all). Dealing with foreign leaders takes resolve, preparation, and determination.’ [Her spokesperson] did not respond to a question about whom Noem could have been referring to, if not Kim.”
