Is It Possible To Be Too Dumb To Serve In Congress?
Yesterday, before Moscow Marge’s latest meltdown, I happened to ask about her in the middle of a wide-ranging interview with a senior House Democrat. “We want the voters to picture her every time they think about the Republicans in the House,” he said. And he wasn’t talking about the ‘bleached-blonde bad built butch body’ either. He was talking about what happened a couple of hours later when she was imparting messaging from the Mar-a-Lago swamp to the true believers on Steve Bannon’s podcast. [Anyone know why Bannon isn’t in prison? How many times does he have to lose appeals before he gets locked up?]
Alex Griffing was following along when she melted down, tearing into her fellow Republicans, yet again, over their unwillingness to impeach President Joe Biden, which is what Trump would like to see Congress doing. Never mind all the wasted resources, energy and months of investigations from 3 committees with extreme right chairmen that found no evidence, Traitor Greene insists that “Today, we should be voting to impeach Joe Biden because of the invasion in the United States. Oh, but no, none of that is happening up here in Washington, DC, because Republicans continually have their head up their ass and can’t figure out how to actually use the power that the people gave us. This is a new time in America, and I am so fed up, Steve. I am so fed up. I am so sick of it because I know people at home are sick of it. People are sick and tired of a feckless, useless Republican party that never does a damn thing to stop any of this. They just sit in the boat and row along with the Democrats and row.”
And she was all over social media with crackpottery like this:
And “Democrats are abusing our justice system to target political opponents like President Trump. Their sham trial is a disgrace! I’ll be talking with Speaker Johnson. Our Republican conference has to take action. I have Articles of Impeachment against Joe Biden drafted and ready. I’ll force a vote if I have to. It’s time for Republicans to grow a spine and hold Democrats accountable!” The send me money part comes later.
One of her then-colleagues, Ken Buck (R-CO) once tried reminding her that “The Constitution says Congress shall count the votes. Doesn’t say Congress may overturn an election result. It doesn’t say Congress can do whatever the heck it wants with this election. ‘Shall count the votes,’ that’s what the Constitution says. In her CrossFit class maybe they didn’t cover that… And it also, the Constitution, also says that, you know, the impeachment of a president shall be based on treason, high crimes, and misdemeanors. It doesn’t say it’s a political exercise and we hope the Senate does the right thing.”
Thanks to her, we know where the outer boundary of acceptability is for today's GOP. This is beyond the pale for them:
This is not:
It's good to know exactly what boundaries we still have left in our political system.
