Kill him with his own gun!
Our president wants us here!
We were invited here! We were invited by the President Of the United States!
It's time for war!
Hang Mike Pence!
Those are just a few of the words Trump's mob of white supremacist goons screamed as they played their assigned role in the attempted coup of 1/6. They were a crowd of thousands, emboldened and encouraged by the knowledge that they had Donald Trump and the entire Republican Party infrastructure behind them. Republicans weren't about to give up the White House just because of... you know, democracy! They felt entitled!
The Republican message of violence, intimidation, sedition, and treason isn't just for 2021 of course. It's been building ever since the 1960s and it appears to be now etched in stone as the party's message to the country for every year from now on at least for the foreseeable future. The four killings at Kent State and the subsequent calls from Republicans right on up to the Ohio Governor for "Four more! Four more!" The simultaneous killings at Jackson state, Reagan's hardhats, the Amadou Diallo 41 Shots case and so many like it before and since, and now the Republican Party hero worship of a little gun-toting twit named Kyle Rittenhouse... all that is just a prelude in the vision that Republicans have for the United States Of America.
The Republican Party isn't stopping at mere voter suppression. Since 1/6, Republican state legislatures have been working at a frenzied pace to go way beyond the totally un-american ugliness of denying citizens the right to cast a vote right and are proceeding to pass laws that will enable them to simply throw out any votes for any candidate they don't like. And, if that doesn't do the trick, they have shown that they are more than willing, even eager, to storm not just the Capitol Building in Washington but every State Capitol Building as well, and do it this time with guns and grenades. This past January, they followed instructions and just brought crowbars, tire irons, and bear spray. The guns made it to the Virginia/DC border but the idea of transporting them into Washington for use on 1/6 was thought better of because of Washington's gun laws. Next time, we and the people who work at the Capitol won't be so lucky.
Meanwhile, the Republican policy of violence, intimidation, sedition, and treason is not being met with the equal or stronger reaction that is called for. Instead, ridiculously short slap on the wrist sentences, probations, and all but meaningless ankle bracelets are being handed out by soft judges at the behest of an even softer bunch of so-called prosecutors. "Where's the DOJ," you ask? Maybe this meme will best explain that one, or so it seems for now. "Let's Go Merrick!"
The Select 1/6 Investigation Committee? Until it proves itself otherwise, it's just another Dog & Pony show in the decades and decades long list of Washington, DC Dog & Pony Shows that always seem designed to cynically throw us a tiny bone and nothing more meaningful. I well remember the House Select Committee on Assassinations and how it closed up the very day that it looked like it was getting too close to the truth. I remember how Nixon's Watergate gang got the old wink and a nod as Egil Krogh was seen carrying his tennis racket to "prison," how E. Howard Hunt lived out his days sunning himself in Mexico, and how John Ehrlichman was sentenced to the hard labor of writing his book while Nixon lived out his life on the beach at San Clemente and did it on our dime thanks to another crook named Gerald Ford. Do I have to mention Nixon's traitorous sabotage of the Paris Peace Accords and how LBJ let him get away with it? Do I have to mention Iran Contra and how Oliver North was sentenced to the highly paid life of a talk show host and go-to speaker for Republican Party events? Those were all legit times to storm the Capitol Building, and let us not forget that Donald Trump was impeached twice and let off the hook twice by his $enate accomplices. All of this enabled what happened on 1/6. When it comes to its politicians, the fix is always in and America is a way, way too tolerant society. If Trump is let off the hook this time, there will be no more America. We won't even have to wait for the next Head Goon of Washington World to come along.
Right now, this very day, Washington is on vacation because, to them, nothing is urgent and it's all just one big show anyway, unless we somehow find a way to hammer them into the moral world which is like hammering square pegs into round holes. Washington is dithering while the 2022 election season is upon us like the weight of the Earth itself. They claim to be trying to determine, among other things, if Donald Trump led his attempted coup. All you really need is his two quotes below that will live in that January day of infamy forever. First, there are the key lines in his long rambling escaped mental patient rally speech to his equally deranged mob that his Republican Party and his White House assembled that morning on the Ellipse. Then, when he could have put a stop to his failing coup, there's his tweet about Mike Pence failing him which he sent out to inflame his mob into further action, action that resulted in deaths, lost eyes, broken bones and minds, and untold damages to the Capitol Building itself and its historic works of art. We need to see an itemized list of that but the committee hasn't shown us that, not yet, anyway. We paid for that with our tax dollars. We might get really, really mad if that list is published and widely exposed. Can't have that now, can we Washington?
Trump, from the Ellipse Rally Speech-
Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down and I'll be there with you. We're going to walk down...We're going to walk down. Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the Capitol...Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong...I said something is wrong here, something is really wrong, can't have happened and we fight, we fight like hell, and if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore.
Trump didn't walk with his mob of course. After inciting his mob, he quickly left by car and returned to the safety of the oval office to watch it all unfold on TV while he cheered and told anyone who was hanging out with him how great it was, that the crowd was huge, that the crowd loved him, that the ratings were setting records, that no one else could get a crowd like this, etc.
Then, when Vice President Pence actually had the nerve to follow the laws of the nation and stuck up for our Constitution and system of government, there was this tweet designed to inflame the mob into mayhem.
Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts not fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. The USA demands the truth!
Subsequent testimony from coup participants tells us that the tweet did exactly what it was meant to do. Here's participant Joshua Matthew Black, from Alabama (Say no more!) Joshua's a real genius. Like many of the mob attempting Trump's coup, he posted a video of his activities on youtube where he admitted to entering the Capitol Building and told the world he was packing a knife.
Once we found out Pence turned on us and that they had stolen the election, like, officially, the crowd went crazy. I mean, it became a mob. We crossed the gate. We just wanted to get inside the building. I wanted to get inside the building so I could plead the blood of Jesus over it. That was my goal.
It's all there. The rest, ie. all the trimmings are the extra gory details and the relevant activities of co-conspirators including those in the White House, those in Congress, and the media, but the bottom line is in what Trump as the General leading his troops said to egg them on. He was the leader! When it comes to showing his guilt, what else do we really need? I can't help but be reminded of the time his son was using twitter to direct Republican fanatics to run a Biden-Harris campaign bus off the road and into a ditch as it headed to a rally in the third world state of Texas.
The Republican Party's message of violence, violence in all directions, is its platform now. They don't run on anything else. It's "You know what we stand for. Send money. Vote for us." 1/6 was just a trial run for them. The Nazi coup is ongoing. People like Horned Chewbacca Guy and Killer Kyle Rittenhouse get standing ovations from republicans at the mere mention of their names for a reason. You can see that in Congress and even more so in state legislatures. You can see it in those who voted against giving medals to the police who defended the Capitol Building and all who work there on 1/6. You can see it nightly on FOX "News" and other Goebbels style networks. There will be no let up. Years of tolerance of and inaction against such people have only encouraged them to push things further.
merrick garland is another symptom of the many cancers.
But there were others who refused to act before him (not counting the nazi AGs of course): Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Janet Reno, Griffin Bell, Benjamin Civiletti...
I know you're asking ... who? Each one refused to do anything at all about treasons committed by nixon, reagan, HW, W, cheney, trump and his cabal. Also refused to enforce the parts of the constitution repudiated by all NDAAs, PATRIOT and other laws since the '80s. Torture, finance fraud, foreclosure fraud are more laws conspicuously ignored by democrap AGs.
But the important ones, today anyway, are their collective refusal to prosecute treason.
When treason is not illegal, nothing is illegal... just as long…
