Right now there are 37 congressional districts with more than 50% Hispanic populations— 11 in California alone, as well as 8 in Texas. Let’s focus in on one today, CA-22 in the Central Valley including most of Kings County and parts off Kern and Tulare counties. It is 73.1% Hispanic and just 15.8% white.
The PVI has gotten redder in the last few cycles, slipping from D+5 to R+1. In presidential elections:
2008- Obama 52%
2012- Obama 55%
2016- Clinton- 55%
2020- Biden 55%
2024- Trump 52%
The congressman is Republican David Valadao, who has been able to hold onto his seat because the DCCC recruited and supported one of the worst Democratic candidates to run anywhere in the country, Rudy Salas, an Asemblyman who distinguished himself as both too conservative and too corrupt. He was generally considered the worst member of the state legislature— perfect for the DCCC, which, with the House Majority PAC spent over $10.1 million in 2022, and $8.9 million in 2024. Valadao beat him both times but he has filed papers to run again this cycle. Even the DCCC has finally realized he's a loser.
However, this cycle, a progressive Democrat, Randy Villegas, looked like he would be able to oust Valadao— scaring the crap out of Suzan DelBene and her DCCC corporate New Dems who would rather see a Republican win than a progressive. So they started work on recruiting another worthless conservative, this time not even a Latino— Jasmeet Bains, a right-of-center Sikh Assemblywoman with an “F” score from Courage California, just the kind of loser the DCCC always gravitates to. In 2022 Bains took over Salas’ seat when he gave it up to run for Congress. She’s nearly as bad as he is. Leave it to the DCCC to keep Valadao in office over and over again.

Last week, Bernie and AOC were in the north central part of the state— Folsom— and drew 30,000 people to their rally. In a part of the state with very low voter turnout, 30,000 people was a shocking number. The DCCC should pay attention.Suzan DelBene and her team would be lucky to draw 300 people in the area— unless rally goers were provided with rotten fruit to throw.
