Disgrace: 10 Democrats Passed MAGA Mike’s Spending Bill— It Would Have Failed Without Them

Writer: Howie KleinHowie Klein

Wondering which Democrats helped the Republicans pass their purely evil spending bill without even a fight? The traitors and cowards, led by Chuck Schumer, were Dick Durbin (IL) Catherine Cortez Masto (NV), Maggie Hassan (NH), John Fetterman (PA), Gary Peters (MI), Brian Schatz (HI), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Jeanne Shaheen (NH) and Angus King (I-ME). Robert Reich: “Senate Democratic leadership essentially played dead today and greenlit the Trump-Musk-Vance coup. What is the point of the Democratic Party if it doesn't actually act like an opposition party? Hello?”

The furor towards Schumer is continuing to build inside the progressive base of the Democratic Party. Charlamagne tha God suggested both Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries "step down from their positions" for refusing to effectively take on Trump and yesterday Jeffries appeared to throw Schumer under the bus during a press conference when he refused to answer a direct question about whether Senate Democrats need new leadership.. This morning Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, a front-runner in the state's gubernatorial race, issued this statement insisting Schumer step aside, a widely shared— and rapidly growing— perspective inside the party.

Back in the Senate there were also some amendments, all of which failed— like Tammy Duckworth’s legislation that would reinstate veterans who were fired from their federal jobs by the Trump regime. All the Dems voted for it and all the Republicans voted against it. The other interesting amendment was introduced by Chris Van Hollen (MD), which would have defunded DOGE, in effect shutting it down. Every Democrat voted yes— even Fetterman, Shaheen and Slotkin— along with one Republican, Lisa Murkowski. Of course, all the other Republicans voted against it.

The Senate also confirmed Steve Feinberg as Deputy Secretary of Defense yesterday 59-40. Democrats who joined the GOP to vote in favor were:

  • John Fetterman (PA)

  • Tim Kaine (VA)

  • Jack Reed (RI)

  • Jeanne Shaheen (NH)

  • Elissa Slotkin (MI)

  • Mark Warner (VA)
