Conspiracy Theory-Infused Politics Allows Illiterate Morons To Think They're Watching Reality TV

Imagine Lincoln's, Teddy Roosevelt's & Eisenhower's Tears

Is that a cardboard cutout with Eli Crane?

In her daily newsletter yesterday, Heather Cox Richardson, noted that the MAGAts “are now lying about the federal response to Hurricane Helene in much the same way they lied about Haitian migrants bringing chaos and disease to Springfield, Ohio. Both disinformation efforts are flat-out lies, and both are designed to demonize immigrants. Immigration was the issue Trump was so eager to run on that he demanded Republican lawmakers reject the strong border bill a bipartisan group of lawmakers had hammered out. The federal response to Hurricane Helene has drawn bipartisan praise, with Republican governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina thanking Biden by name for what McMaster called a ‘superb’ response. But on Sunday, September 29, two days after the hurricane hit, the right-wing organization started by anti-immigrant Trump loyalist Stephen Miller posted: ‘Billions for Ukraine. Billions for illegal aliens. And what for the Americans? Reprogram every single dollar that FEMA has dedicated to support illegal aliens to go towards Americans who are facing unprecedented devastation!. Yesterday, in Saginaw, Michigan, Trump echoed Miller, claiming that the Biden administration is botching the hurricane response because it has spent all the money appropriated for FEMA on ‘illegal immigrants. They spent it all on illegal migrants… They stole the FEMA money just like they stole it from a bank, so they could give it to their illegal immigrants that they want to have vote for them,’ he said. Today, he claimed that ‘a billion dollars was stolen from FEMA to use it for illegal migrants, many of whom are criminals, to come into our country.’”

To spread the lies even further, the world’s richest man, fascist criminal Elon Musk— who many Americans think should have his companies nationalized while he’s deported back to Africa— began tweeting the false claims. “FEMA,” he lied in a typical Musk firehose of lies, “used up its budget ferrying illegals into the country instead of saving American lives. Treason.”

Psychologists are of one mind when it comes to Musk and Trump: severely mentally ill. But, perhaps, an even bigger problem is that their party is severely mentally ill. Let’s look at Arizona’s immense— and immensely gerrymandered— second congressional district, all of Apache, Coconino, Gila, Navajo and Yavapai counties and parts of Graham, Maricopa, Mohave and Pinal counties. The PVI is R+6 and the partisan lean was gerrymandered to make a swing district with an R+6 to a solidly MAGA district with an R+15. Trump won it by 7.9 points.

In 2022, MAGA sociopath Elijah Crane— who manufactures bottle openers out of 50 calibre cartridge casings for a living— defeated Republican turned Blue Dog Tom O’Halleran, the incumbent, 174,169 (53.9%) to 149,151 (46.1%). He won the GOP primary— with a. Trump endorsement— by insisting that the 2020 election has been stolen, spreading conspiracy theories on a nearly Marjorie Traitor Greene level. His first votes in Congress were to oppose Kevin McCarthy for Speaker. Later he was one of the 8 Republicans to remove him from the chair. Firmly in Putin’s camp on every foreign policy issue—from Syria to Ukraine— Crane has fit right in with the House Freedom Caucus. Yesterday, however, Annie Karni reported how he’s now fitting in fine with the GOP leadership— not because he’s let up on the crackpot conspiracy theories, but because he’s shouting them louder than ever and these days the party leadership is all good with that. Conspiracy theories, no matter how deranged are at the core of the MAGA Movement and at the core of Trump’s MAGA-GOP.

Crane insists, wrote Karni, that “there is a mole within Trump’s Secret Service detail and warns that the former president should bolster his private security to ‘watch the watchers.’ He says he is skeptical that the FBI will ‘get to the bottom’ of the first attempted assassination against Trump— and even if they do, he declares, ‘I don’t believe that they would give us the truth.’ He has repeatedly raised the possibility that the shooter who tried to assassinate Trump in July at an open-air rally in Butler, Pa., did not act alone, and that the gunman who was arrested last month in what the FBI described as a second assassination attempt at his Florida golf course was an ‘asset’ of a foreign adversary who was being ‘handled.’”

And Crane “has been everywhere that will have him, promoting conspiracy theories about the assassination attempts against Trump, despite all evidence that such theories are false. And far from sidelining or attempting to silence him, Republican leaders have given him a prominent platform to air his outlandish claims at the highest levels, lending credence to the conspiracy theories spread by him and others on the far right.”

Crane and Florida crackpot Cory Mills have been a two-man assassination conspiracy team that appears to be operating with the complicity of MAGA Mike, Steve Scalise and Tom Emmer. Miller spent the day with Trump in Butler yesterday politicizing the assassination attempt without mentioning the would-be assassin was a mentally deranged Trump voter. “The GOP’s continued embrace of their claims underscores once again how deeply misinformation and conspiratorial thinking has captivated the Republican Party’s base, and how willing even mainstream members of the party are to indulge it— either for political gain or to avoid political punishment.”

Crane, wrote Karni, has “a reputation for extreme language and tactics. On the House floor last summer, he referred to Black Americans as ‘colored people,’ words that Democrats immediately requested be stricken from the record. (He later said he ‘misspoke.’) A couple of months later, Crane said an upcoming visit to the Capitol by President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine was reason enough for him to cheer for a government shutdown. And he has consistently been a part of a core group of hard-right House members who have blocked their party’s own messaging bills from coming to the floor. But in the months since that first assassination attempt, Crane appears to have landed on his animating issue, airing his Trump assassination conspiracy theories in regular appearances on right-wing podcasts, cable programs and events live-streamed on the video platform Rumble. He has dismissed the work of the bipartisan task force investigating the attempts as a toothless political prop.”

His Democratic opponent this cycle is former Navajo Nation president Jonathan Nez. Nez has raised $1,173,120 to Crane’s $5,496,033. The DCCC is ignoring the race entirely and is refusing to support Nez’s challenge to Crane. But Nez thinks that even in as red a district as AZ-02, Crane has made himself vulnerable. “There is a lot of distrust now that he has a record, and this conspiracy theory that he has only adds to the distrust for him... He is feeding the far-right audience what they want to hear, and fund-raising off that.”

I also know that FDR, JFK and LBJ would be weeping at the current state of the democrap party.

They all put in a lot of work to make Democrats a force for good only to see you all and slick willie turn it into the corrupt pussies they have been for many decades now.

Who is the moron? The one who believes in maga or the one who believes anything kamala says she'll do if elected? actually, it's both!
