I bet Bob Good wishes he had never heard of Ron DeSantis! Two weeks from tomorrow, his career in politics will probably be finished. He somehow thought he could play the MAGA game and disrespect the MAGA Capo dei capi. After DeSantis’ pathetic campaign imploded— having wasted close to $200 million— Good tried ingratiating himself to Trump again. He even scurried up to the Manhattan courthouse where Trump was being humiliated for cooking his books after paying hush money to a call girl who said he couldn’t get an erection. It didn’t do any good. “Too late,” said Trump. Actually, what he said was a lot more and a lot worse than that: “Bob Good is BAD FOR VIRGINIA, AND BAD FOR THE USA. He turned his back on our incredible movement, and was constantly attacking and fighting me until recently, when he gave a warm and ‘loving’ endorsement— But really, it was too late. The damage had been done!…”
And then, on Friday, Trump’s campaign sent poor Good a cease and desist letter for using Trump’s name on his campaign signs and literature. Over the weekend, Filip Timoltija reported that the letter “was sent after Good’s campaign utilized the former president’s image, name and the president’s past support of the candidate to boost his reelection chances. ‘To be clear, neither you nor your campaign are authorized to use President Trump’s name or the Campaign’s to falsely imply their support of your candidacy,’ attorney David Warrington said in a letter obtained by The Hill. ‘Nor are you or your campaign authorized to claim that you represent or are otherwise associated with President Trump or the campaign.’ The letter came just days after Trump announced his endorsement of Virginia state Sen. John McGuire, Good’s primary challenger who is looking to beat the House lawmaker in the June 18 primary.”
“Producing and displaying materials that give the false impression that President Trump is supportive of your candidacy is a fraud on the voters of Virginia’s 5th Congressional District,” the letter said, which also featured a photo of a campaign sign with Trump’s name placed right above Good’s.
“It is an abuse of the voters’ trust to make such false statements,” Warrington added. “Further, if you are using President Trump’s name, image, or likeness in any of your fundraising materials implying that he supports your campaign— that is a fraud on the donors.”
The cease-and-desist order was widely covered by the media in the sprawling, mostly rural district, reminding Republican primary voters about Trump’s animus towards Good. Matt Gaetz has been actively campaigning for Good. It looks like his influence wasn’t as strong as Marjorie Traitor Greene’s and Kevin McCarthy’s— Good’s top two detractors and the two who persuaded Trump to make an example out of Good so that other Republicans don't ever think they can get away with any kind of half-assed moves against the cult leader.
DeSantis sure isn't trying to help his old pal. "Bob who? I'm busy raising millions of dollars for Dear Leader.”
