Back in 1995, Paramount released a film that has long been a cult classic. It stars Wesley Snipes (Noxeema), Patrick Swayze (Vida), and John Leguizamo (Chi Chi). The film was To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar. It was written by Douglas Carter Beane and the director was Beeban Kidron. It's the kind of movie that, if it was released today, would have FOX "News" and nearly every known Republican screaming and howling in hate. Classic GOP/Nazi baboons like Ron DeSantis and Tucker Carlson would likely keel over in apoplectic, foaming at the mouth seizures.
Any movie theaters that dared to screen To Wong Foo today might even get firebombed. Actually, no 'might' about it. As we saw back on November 22nd at Club Q, such places very well could be horrifyingly shot up by AR-15 armed republican proud boy shock troops, too. Why? Well, as you may have guessed from the names of the lead characters and looking at the visuals I've provided, those lead characters are drag queens. The plot line centers around the three drag queens whose car breaks down and they end up stranded in a small town that features a homophobic racist sheriff. In the end, the town sides with the 3 drag queens (spoiler alert) in a very wonderful way that would, no doubt, put today's Republicans in a fear boner coma.
Yeah, I know, the whole idea is terribly shocking, eh? And to think we are now living nearly 70 years after frequent drag guy Milton Berle had the top rated TV show in the land and 50 years after Flip Wilson was dressing up as Geraldine on his hit show. And to think that Kinky Boots was a hit Broadway play (after being out first as a film) just a few short years ago! But, that's the point. The Republican war on drag queens that's going on today, in 2022, is a very sad measure of just how far backward we have gone since 1995. And, it's also a measure of how far back our nazi element will continue to try and drive us as a society.
we elected the "nazi element", or at least wouldn't/couldn't prevent them from being elected, and consume in massive numbers the media that enflames all that hate.
these are not leading the march backward. they are following the masses who are sprinting backward as fast as they can run.
it's called resonance in physics.
and nobody is stopping either group.
