William Timmons (R-SC), Representing A Religionist District, Can't Keep His Pecker In His Pants

Trump & MAGA Mike Back Adulterer— Gaetz Backs A Nazi Who Wants To Lock Women Up For Abortions

William Timmons is a garden variety right-wing Republican from the South. He represents the solidly red fourth congressional district in upstate South Carolina, which includes both Spartanburg and Greenville. The PVI is R+12, Trump beat Biden by over 18 points and Timmons won the 2018 primary to replace Trey Gowdy when he retired. This is one of those districts where the more important race is the primary, not the general. And now Timmons is being challenged in a primary by the Freedom Caucus— both the one if Congress and the South Carolina version as well. The head of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus, state Rep. Adam Morgan, is attacking Timmons from the right. And he’s been endorsed by fellow South Carolinian Ralph Norman, who hates Timmons and who persuaded Bob Good (VA), Matt Gaetz (FL), Scott Perry (PA), Eli Crane (AZ) and 4 other extremist trouble-makers to jump into the race, even though it’s against a conservative sitting congressman. Trump, on the other hand, has given one of his one-size-fits-all endorsements to Timmons. MAGA Mike is also in Timmons’ camp.

Earlier today, Max Cohen and Mica Soellner looked into the June 11 primary as another example of the turmoil that has enveloped the dysfunctional GOP Conference in the Age of Trump, with both candidates “trying to outdo each other over who is more MAGA.” Morgan is definitely on the neo-fascist end of the party, while Timmons is a more traditional right-wing conservative, although some of his religionist constituents are furious that he screwed the wife of a prominent local Republican while he was married (breaking the Commandment about not committing adultery).

Norman and Gaetz held a rally in the district and attacked Timmons as “ineffective.” Generally, the Freedom Caucus sees Morgan as a dependable vote against the party leadership and for the no-compromise hardline agenda it espouses. Ironically, the district's voters are more interested in Timmons' "infidelity" and have questioned whether someone who cheats on his wife can take moral votes in Congress. (Yes, it's that kind of district.)

Meanwhile, Timmons has been “painting Morgan as an anti-Trumper in disguise and has been touting his support from the former president across social media channels. ‘He has never supported Trump up until the day DeSantis dropped out,’ Timmons said of Morgan. ‘His biggest supporter, Ralph Norman, is the only member of Congress to support Nikki Haley.’… Morgan, who was vying for Trump’s backing, said he believes the former president will end up regretting his Timmons endorsement. ‘Trump’s endorsed a number of incumbents,’ Morgan said. ‘I think this is definitely going to be one that he’ll regret doing.’”

But what caught my attention about this race is the Timmons’ ad running in the district now (below) that attacks Morgan for advocating putting women who get an abortion in prison and then blatantly lying about it— on camera. Watch the ad; it’s interesting… and it’s exactly the kind of ad Roe electoral effect ad Democrats are running against Republicans!
